Costumed Guide
If you want someone in costume just to hang around at your venue, maybe interact with people, but not actually do very much, then you could hire me as a 'costumed guide'. I have quite a large collection of costumes for my favourite periods of history - Anglo-Saxon and Medieval, so I can provide quite a range of looks from 485 to 1485 C.E.
Please just ask if you want something specific.
Some of my previous work has included:
-
working as a 'meeter and greeter' on the queue line at Bury St.Edmunds Cathedral, chatting to folks waiting to see the Magna Carta (12th century Pilgrim)
-
selling bags of sweetmeats (sugared walnuts) to folks at the Christmas Market at Moyses Hall (Medieval Pedlar),
-
acting as 'Saint Etheldreda' in a Town Trail for the National Racing Museum in Newmarket,
-
designing and providing an interactive tour around the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village with my then husband, Glenn Wilkin,
I charge £45 for the first hour and then £15 for every additional hour, plus 45 pence per mile travel allowance to your venue.

With distaff and spindle I can be very mobile, whilst still able to engage folks.

"Such a bonus having re-enactors in. lady in the Museum was so lovely. Wonderful to see the replicas in her object box and then find the originals in your Museum. Kids loved it."
Comment board at West Stow, from a member of the public.
I worked with my then husband Glenn Wilkin, and the team at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village to create an interactive guided tour for visitors. This comprised telling them about the houses, and showing replicas of the items found there; as well as giving general information about the Anglo-Saxon time-period. (2005)
